Lectionary Year C, Unit 12: Proper 22-25

This unit covers Proper 22 through Proper 25 in Lectionary Year C. It is designed to help students understand 1) the importance of a faith mentor for Christian discipleship and ministry; 2) how to build a lasting faith; 3) the authority and purpose of Scripture; and 4) the rewards for a lifetime of faithfulness.

Lesson 1: Faith Mentors-Faith mentors, whether they are family members or an adoptive faith mentor, are key to learning how to use God's gifts for holy living and effective ministry. (Habakkuk 1:1-4, 2:1-4; Psalm 37:1-9; II Timothy 1:1-14; Luke 17:5-10)

Lesson 2: Until the End-Our eternal destiny depends largely on maintaining our loyalty to Christ, through good times and bad. (Jeremiah 29:1, 4-7; Psalm 66:1-12; 2 Timothy 2:8-15; Luke 17:11-19)

Lesson 3: God's Word-God's authority in our lives is clearly revealed in Scripture, which can lead us to salvation through faith in Christ and equip us to live out that faith. (Jeremiah 31:27-34; Psalm 119:97-104; 2 Timothy 3:14-4:5; Luke 18:1-8)

Lesson 4: Now and the Future-Our lifelong, faithful service in God's kingdom will be rewarded by continued life in that kingdom, including everlasting and direct experience of God's presence. (Jeremiah 14:7-10, 19-22; Psalm 84:1-7; 2 Timothy 4:6-8, 16-18; Luke 18:9-14)
