Product Summary

This unit covers the third Sunday in Easter through the sixth Sunday in Easter in Lectionary Year C. It is designed to help students understand 1) God's mercy and forgiveness when they fail to live up to their identity and calling as disciples; 2) the future of those who remain true to the risen Christ despite trials and tribulation; 3) the newness of life that comes through the resurrection of Christ; and 4) Jesus' promise of the Holy Spirit.

Lesson 1: Beyond God's Grace? Think again-Although Peter denied Jesus (three times), Jesus gave Peter the opportunity to reaffirm his love (three times). This gives us hope that God will show us mercy and acceptance when we fail to be the disciples we should be. (Acts 9:1-6, (7-20); Psalm 30; Revelation 5:11-14; John 21:1-19)

Lesson 2: Is it Really Worth it?- Those who remain faithful to God, even through suffering and trouble, will be rewarded by being able to directly experience God's presence in worship. (Acts 9:36-43; Psalm 23; Revelation 7:9-17; John 10:22-30)

Lesson 3: All New!- The resurrected Christ makes new all things that are broken and failed, including our relationships with God and other people-and not just later, but also right now. (Acts 11:1-18; Psalm 148; Revelation 21:1-6; John 13:31-35)

Lesson 4: I Can't See Him, but I Know He's Here-Although the risen Christ is no longer present in a physical form with His followers, He promised to be present with us in the person of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 16:9-15; Psalm 67; Revelation 21:10, 22-22:5; John 14:23-29)
