Lectionary Year B, Unit 10: Proper 13-16

This unit covers Lectionary Year B Proper 13-16. It is designed to help students understand the Body of Christ, the characteristics of believers in Christ, and the role of the Holy Spirit.

Lesson 1: One Body--This lesson.s theme is “becoming one in the body of Christ.” God calls us all to be unified in Christ and to be His body. It is only by serving one another and encouraging each other that we truly love and come to know the fullness of Christ. (Exodus 16:2-4, 9-15; Psalm 78:23-29; Ephesians 4:1-16; John 6:24-35)

Lesson 2: A Life of Love--This lesson.s theme is “the life of those becoming like Christ.” Becoming like Christ means our lives will change--we will begin to replace our old ways with new Christlike ways. (1 Kings 19:4-8; Psalm 34:1-8; Ephesians 4:25--5:2; John 6:35, 41-51)

Lesson 3: Filled--This lesson.s theme is “a wise life filled with the Sprit of Christ.” Paul instructs followers of Christ to be careful how they live. It is easy to be unwise and fall into the traps of this world. (Proverbs 9:1-6; Psalm 34:9-14; Ephesians 5:15-20; John 6:51-58)

Lesson 4: Suit Up--This lesson.s theme is “standing firm in the armor of Christ.” God’s word instructs us on how to avoid evil--we ready ourselves for battle with God’s armor to protect us. (Joshua 24:1-2a, 14-18; Psalm 34:15-22; Ephesians 6:10-20; John 6:56-69)
