Product Summary

This unit is designed to help students hear and understand the meaning of the liberating power of the Cross in the challenges of daily living. In the midst of a world that preaches cheap grace and instant gratification comes the truth of God to us that His grace is costly.

Lesson 1: The Shadow of the Cross--This lesson studies Jesus as the Suffering Servant. (Isaiah 42:1-9; 49: 1-7; 50:4-11;52:13-53:12)

Lesson 2: The Cross as a Historical Event--This lesson attempts to understand the importance and meaning of the crucifixion. It attempts to assist young adults in better comprehending the meaning of Christ's death on the Cross, and to more clearly understand it as an actual, historical, event. (Psalm 22; Mark 15; 16:1-8; Selected passages in the Gospels)

Lesson 3: The Cross as the Essence of Salvation--This lesson reflects on salvation, which was granted by the death of God's only Son on the Cross at Calvary. (Matthew 26:28; John 3:16-17; Romans 5:6-11; 1 Corinthians 1:18-25; Ephesians 2:11-22)

Lesson 4: The Triumph of the Cross--This lesson helps young adults see that because of Christ's death on the Cross, they need not live in fear or defeat. (Romans 6:1-6; 1 Corinthians 15:24-28; Galatians 5:24-26; Colossians 1:13; 2:14-15

Lesson 5: Take up the Cross--This lesson explores the way to know Christ by becoming like Him is sacrificial obedience. (Luke 9:23-24, 27-62; 14:25-33; Galatians 2:20-21; Philippians 3:8-11)
